Appearances/Goals
MATCH REPORTS The under 12 Girls played a pre-season friendly on September 8th against Norwich City at Easton in a very physical game and were on the wrong end of a 5 - 1 score line. Captain for the day Sophie Rock was our lone goal scorer with a goal in the second half.
The following girls were involved, Adelaide Mott, Emma Bunn,
Constance Canning, Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Rhiannon McKibben, Sophie
Rock, Erica Hall, Nancy Bussey, Sophie Cooke and Danielle Homer.
We learnt a great deal from the game and it should help when we
encounter them in the league.

Evans November 3rd Norwich City Canaries 4 Hethersett 0
A change of formation delivered an improved performance against
Norwich City away at Thorpe Rec. Manager Kelvin Sadler was pleased
with the performance last week despite going down 1 - 5 at home but
this week the team managed to hold Norwich City to 1 - 0 at half
time, Kelvin writes: in fact I think had we scored the first goal
the result may have had a very favourable look at the end.
We conceded a second and at that point gave a few more fringe
players some game time.
All available players have now played at least a half game against
without doubt the best team in the league. In the first half there
were periods when we outplayed Norwich and stood up to them
physically but as the game went on and we weakened they took further
chances to again finish with a four goal advantage.
However the two games back to back against Norwich have set a new
bench mark of what we are aiming for as a team. These were two of
our better performances despite the score lines.
We now have a gap until the end of the league season before we play
them again and I would hope by then we will have learned to convert
possession into goals and points.
TEAM: Emma Bunn, Beth Evans, Constance Canning, Erica Hall,
Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Ella Stephenson, Adelaide Mott. Subs (all
played) - Nancy Bussey, Sophie Rock, Rhiannon Mc Kibben.

Beth Evans, Nancy Bussey, Constance Canning, Ella Stephenson, Teagan
Felknor-Edwards, Sophie Cooke, Sophie Rock, Adelaide Mott, Rhiannon
McKibben, Danielle Homer TEAM: Constance Canning, Sophie Cooke, Teagan Felknor Edwards, Erica Hall, Adelaide Mott, Ella Stephenson, Sophie Rock, Rhiannon McKibben January 12th Red Rose 1 Hethersett 0 Both teams played some quality football with plenty of chances being created although defences were mainly on top. Both teams improved the quality of their play after the break. Red Rose scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game. Hethersett attacked and went close on several occasions. Team: Emma Bunn, Constance Canning, Nancy
Bussey, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Cooke, Teagan Felknor-Edwards,
Danielle Homer. Subs Ella Stephenson, Rhiannon McKibben January 26th Aylsham 1 Hethersett 3 After
the disappointment of failing to take anything out of our last game,
the girls turned in a very solid professional performance in very
windy conditions. TEAM: Emma Bunn, Beth Evans, Constance Canning, Ella Stephenson, Teagan Felknor Edwards, Danielle Homer, Sophie Rock, Erica Hall, Rhiannon McKibben, Adelaide Mott. February 9th Dereham 1 Hethersett 1 Today the girls took part in a game which was simply fantastic to
watch. The playing surface was perfect, the two team hammered away at
each other with some very good passing and both team created at
least a good half dozen of goal scoring chances but the defending
players for both teams in general came out on top. TEAM: Evans, Canning, Homer, Stephenson, Bunn, Bussey, McKibben,
Cooke, Rock, Felknor-Edwards. February 23rd Hethersett 1 Norwich City 5 In a very keenly contested game Hethersett took an early lead which seemed to take the Norwich team a bit of time to come to terms with. However the Hethersett girls struggled to maintain the high tempo and Norwich worked their way back into the game after equalising they went on to take a 2 - 1 lead just before half time Sophie Cooke took a heavy knock during the course of this goal being scored and was not able to continue in the second half.
Danielle came on for Sophie and although Danielle game it every
thing she had she was not the same physical match for her
opponent. Norwich took a 3 - 1 lead at which point the other subs
were given a run out. Norwich went on to score to further goals to
win the game 5 - 1
Norwich were clearly the better team on the day overall but the
score line does not reflect the effort and attitude the girls
showed through out the game.
TEAM: Emma Bunn, Constance Canning, Beth Evans, Ella Stephenson, Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Sophie Cooke, Sophie Rock, Danielle Homer, Adelaide Mott, Erica Hall. March 1st Hethersett 2 Dereham 4 TEAM: Emma Bunn. Constance Canning, Beth Evans, Erica Hall,
Sophie Cooke, Ella Stephenson, Sophie Rock Subs all used Nancy
Bussey, Rhinannon Mc Kibben The Hethersett girls battled hard and won extra time on
the ball by half time the girls had pulled the score back level with
two very well taken goals by the goal machine that is Sophie Rock. March 8th Hethersett 2 Spixworth 0 TEAM: Beth Evans, Rhiannon Mc Kibben,
Sophie Cooke, Danielle Homer, Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Erica Hall,
Adelaide Mott, Constance Canning, Nancy Bussey, Norwich have taken the
points by a four goal margin each time we have played them and over
the three games Dereham also proved they could get the better of out
team. She is not quite finished with the club yet there is the small matter of the cup competition and a few summer events we hope to have her involved in. March 15th Hethersett 2 Blofield 2 TEAM: Emma Bunn, Constance Canning, Nancy Bussey, Ella Stephenson, Sophie Cooke, Rhiannon McKibben, Sophie Rock, Danielle Homer, Catherine Burton, Adelaide Mott March 29th Hethersett 3 Norwich 4 TEAM - Emma Bunn, Constance Canning, Beth Evans, Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Ella Stephenson, Sophie Cooke, Sophie Rock, Nancy Bussey, Catherine Burton, Danielle Homer FINAL TABLE
Hethersett started amongst the favourites, but
late call offs meant they only had six players. Nevertheless they
started strongly, beating Spixworth B 5-0 (Adelaide Mott 4,
Constance Canning), Gorleston Rangers 2-0 (Canning and Ella
Stephenson), Spixworth A 3-0 (Mott, Stephenson 2), Spixworth B 4-0
(Mott 3, Stephenson) before suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat at the
hands of Gorleston Rangers. They got back to winning ways with a 3-0
victory over Spixworth A (Mott, Stephenson and Teagan Felknor-Edwards)
and that was good enough to take them through to the final where
they got revenge for their earlier defeat by beating Gorleston
Rangers 2-0 with both goals coming from Adelaide Mott to take her
tally for the competition to 11. Special mention should go to goalkeeper Emma Bunn who conceded just once and Rhiannon McKibben for her non stop energy. Hethersett’s winning team was: Emma Bunn, Constance Canning, Teagan Felknor-Edwards, Ella Stephenson, Rhiannon McKibben and Adelaide Mott. The team made a number of tactical changes throughout the tournament and in the final Ella was deployed in defence in an attempt to snuff out the Gorleston attack. This had the desired effect with the first goal coming from an Adelaide special and the second from an own goal following Adelaide's banana corner. Hethersett
Girls Under-12s were looking for their second successive summer six
a side tournament win when they
took part in the soccer on the sands event. They comfortably
progressed through their group stage in second place thanks to a 4-1
win over Shrublands (Sophie Rock 3, Beth Evans), a 2-0 loss
against Bohemians and a 2-1 win over Norwich (Sophie Rock 2).
In the semi-finals they faced Brandon and, despite Brandon edging
the first half, they came back to dominate the second half forcing
extra time with the score goalless. There was controversy in the
second period of extra-time. Sophie Rock shot from her own and the
ball travelled into the net via a deflection off a defender's hand.
The referee awarded a penalty, while the Hethersett players,
management and support believed a goal should have been given.
Sophie Rock stepped up to take the penalty, but unfortunately it was
well saved and the game moved into the lottery of penalties. Emma
Bunn proved a hero saving two and getting close to a third,
but Hethersett suffered defeat 4-3 in sudden death penalties. All
the players deserve great credit for their effort and performance.
They were Sophie Rock, Sophie Cooke, Emma, Teagan, Connie, Beth,
Catherine and Rhinannon.
