Annual General Meeting - July 2005

Hethersett Athletic reported on another successful season at the annual general meeting held at Park Farm Hotel.

Chair Peter Steward reflected on a season which had seen the Under-14s win their league. There had also been good performances from a number of the club's other teams and the club had an outstanding disciplinary record.

H e outlined meetings that had taken place during the year to establish a permanent home for the club. These will carry on over the coming season and include searching for a piece of land in the village and also a partnership with Easton College.

The club's annual presentation evening had attracted 700 people and once again been held at Carrow Road. It is generally felt in the club that the evening has become too big and the club will look into splitting it into two.

The coveted Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy had been awarded to Ray Milne in recognition of all his sponsorship and development work for the club and wife Sue was made the club's fourth honorary life member.

The meeting heard that considerable energy in the new season will be put into women's soccer with the club developing well in this area.

Secretary Mel Perkins said the club continued to enjoy a good reputation and he was proud to be associated with it. In the coming season the club would be running a record 15 teams in five different leagues. He also reported as treasurer that the club is in a stable financial position

The chairman called for more help behind the scenes: "The club continues to expand and it is vital that we have volunteers to work behind the scenes as we continue to grow," he said.
