A National FA Community Charter Club

Annual Meeting 2000

There were 17 members of the club present at the Annual Meeting held at Hethersett Social Club on Thursday August 17th, 2000.

Chairman Peter Steward thanked all members of the committee for their hard work during the year and paid particular tribute to secretary/treasurer and club founder Mel Perkins.

The chairman said the club had made "great strides forward" during the past season and was fast becoming a force in local football and gaining a solid reputation. The men's first team were champions of Division 4B of the Norwich Sunday League and in so doing had become the second club side to win a league title after the success of the Under-11s the previous season.

He said that the 2000/2001 season promised to be even busier with the club running a record number of sides and providing football for all ages from eight to adult.

Secretary Mel Perkins reported on a hectic year which had seen all the sides complete their fixtures. The men's reserves were just beaten to the title of team of the year in their league. The club had been well placed in various sportsmanship awards and was gaining a good reputation.

He thanked the committee for its help and urged the club to become even more efficient in the way it conducted its business. He voiced his disappointment at there being no Under-11 side for the coming season, but it was good to see mini soccer taking off.

In his treasurer's report, Mel stated that the club had made a loss of £50 over the season. This was a cause for concern as £1,635 had been raised from the five-a-side tournament. Without this money the club would have suffered a serious loss. Many of the team managers do not claim any secretarial expenses and so this was looked upon as a donation tot he club.

The following amendments were passed to the constitution:

"No individual team or person may spend over £50 on a single item without the permission of the club committee or, in an emergency, the permission of club officers."

"10% of money raised by individual fundraising should go to general club funds. This does not include money raised from subscriptions, match and training fees."

The secretary pointed out the continued development and evolution of the club and proposed that an assistant secretary should be added to the club's officers to deal with non matchday matters. This was unanimously agreed along with the appointment of a fundraising and sponsorship officer.

The following officers were elected:

Chairman Peter Steward
Vice-Chairman David Manington
Secretary Mel Perkins
Assistant Secretary Mel Bradfield
Treasurer Mel Perkins
Fund-raising Officer Robert Whitmore
Committee Dave Bowden and Paul Self were co-opted
