A National FA Community Charter Club

A good attendance heard that season 2000/2001 had not only been the busiest in the club's history, but also the most successful.

Club Chairman Peter Steward outlined the great strides taken forward by the club which ran no less than 12 sides covering both sexes and all ages from eight upwards.

There had been a number of notable successes. The Under-13s girls had won their league's fairplay trophy; the men's A side were beaten finalists in the South Norfolk Players Aid Trophy and also runners-up in their fairplay league; the men's first team had won Division Three of the Norwich Sunday League to make it two championships in a row; the boys under-13s had won their Anglian Youth Combination Cup section and the women's side were beaten finalists in the Norfolk Cup and runners-up in the league.

The achievements had been celebrated at the club's annual presentation evening which had been held for the first time at Norwich City's premises in Carrow Road. The Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy for outstanding contribution to the club had been won by Charlotte Boreham and fellow women's team player Kelly McEwan had broken the club's individual scoring record when she became the first player in the history of the club to score over 50 goals in a season.

Secretary Mel Perkins said that there had been many problems with the weather during the season but most sides had battled through to complete their fixtures. He spoke of the ever increasing bureaucracy involved in running a football club.

Mel also reported a healthy financial position for the club which would be helped by a £5,000 grant from the National Lottery Awards scheme.

Members agreed to adopt three codes of conducts to cover the expected behaviour of players, managers and coaches and spectators. The club will also be working on a child protection policy.

Guests for the evening, which was held at Hethersett Social Club, were County Child Protection Officer Raffi Coverdale and county football development officer Asa Saunders.

Asa outlined the steps for the club to gain charter standard and this is something the club will be working towards over the next year.

Three new posts were created with Sue Milne being appointed Child Protection Officer, Ray Milne being appointed Development Officer and Steve Smith Football Development Officer.

The full list of officers elected was:
