A National FA Community Charter Club

The club's annual general meeting  took place on Thursday 18th July in Hethersett Village Hall.

Club Chairman Peter Steward and Secretary Mel Perkins both spoke of the club being at "the crossroads." Both felt that Hethersett Athletic is at a stage of tremendous growth with the opportunity to move forwards.

The chairman reported another extremely busy season which saw the men's first team win their third consecutive divisional Norwich Sunday League championship. In the coming season they will be playing senior Sunday football for the first time. The men's A team had gained promotion in the South Norfolk Sunday League and there had also been success at women's level with the team finishing league runners-up and at youth level with the Under-14s reaching two cup semi-finals.

The club agreed to set-up a development group consisting of the officers and any co-opted members appointed. This group will look into the general standing, development and promotion of the club.

The secretary stated that a healthy 79% of club players came from either Hethersett, the surrounding villages or the immediate catchment area and this was in line with the club's policy to provide football primarily for local people.

The treasurer reported on a reasonably healthy financial year which had been helped by a £5,000 grant.

The highlight of the year had been the award of National FA Development Charter status and the meeting heard that this would be officially presented at half-time during the coming women's international match at Carrow Road between England and Nigeria.
