A National FA Community Charter Club

The club's annual general meeting was held at Hethersett Village Hall on Thursday 17th July, 2003.

Club chairman Peter Steward reported on "a successful season" which had also been something of a transitional one with regards to the men's adult sides.

"We had one or two hiccups with the adult section during the season as we attempted to move towards an integrated full squad approach for the three men's teams and move away from the individual teams being run separately. Any problems that existed have now been sorted out and we have three very strong and enthusiastic teams ready for the new season," the chairman said.

During the season, the club had become one of only two in Norfolk and 100 nationally to have been awarded the national FA Community Charter Standard. The award was presented at a special evening at park Farm Hotel.

On the field, the boys' under-14s under the direction of Tom Gregory, had an outstanding season, winning their league. The under-15s had reached the final of their league cup where they were narrowly beaten in extra-time.

Club secretary/treasurer Mel Perkins pointed out the need for the club to raise additional funds to ensure its continued success. The club's long term aim is to have its own ground within the village. Ray Milne has taken up a new post as sponsorship/commercial manager and a number of sponsorship deals are one the cards.

A number of changes in the club's development plan were agreed and these can be viewed on the club's official web site at www.hethersettathletic.org.uk.

Next season the club will again be running teams for both sexes and all ages from eight to adult.
