A National FA Community Charter Club

Hethersett Athletic’s men’s first team and ladies team both sit proudly at the top of their respective leagues as the year draws to a close.

With no more fixtures until January 7th both sides are sure to be top at both Christmas and the New Year.

The men’s team’s game at home to Eaton Beehive was postponed on Sunday when the visitors failed to raise a team. The women took centre stage and inflicted a crushing 8-1 victory on local rivals Barchester United. Recent signing Nicola Bray hit six and other goals came from Emily Coates and Jemma Smythe. The team have scored 15 times in their last two games with Bray hitting the net on 11 occasions. She has now scored 12 since joining the club from King’s Lynn.

The Men’s A team kept up their promotion push with a 1-0 victory over Sprowston Rovers with their only goal coming from Matt Parkhouse, his first for the club. The Men’s Reserves went down 4-1 to Thorpe Rovers with James Leveritt scoring Hethersett’s only goal. The match was marred by a serious foot injury to Ben Tyrrell.

In the Norfolk Youth Combination the Under-16s wnet down 2-0 to Costessey. The Under-15s did better and beat Sprowston 2-0 with goals from Luther-Veitch and Dyson.

The Under-14s lost 4-0 at home to Wymondham Youth, the Under-13s went down 3-1 to Bressingham (Edwards) and the Under-12s went down 4-0 to Drayton, The Under-10s lost 1-0 to Jex but then bounced back to beat Firside 2-0 with goals from Morter and Bunting. The Under-9 A team beat Attleborough A 5-0 in the League Cup with Joe Barratt hitting four and the other coming from Lewis Baxter. The Under-9B side went down 9-0 at Litcham.

The club’s only fixture before the turn of the year sees the Under-9B side take on Mundford at Little Melton School in the League Cup on Sunday, 31st December (kick off 10.30 a.m).
