Hethersett Athletic’s Norwich Sunday League Cup first round match at Hillside Old Boys was called off on Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch. The reserves’ proposed home league match against Earlham United was also called off. The A team made the long journey to Mundesley and went down 5-2, having beaten them at home the previous week. Hethersett’s goals came from Jack Raven and Andy Oliver. 

This week the Reserves are home to CEYMS (Hethersett Memorial Field 10.30) and the A team visit Freethorpe. 

Seven members of the table-topping Hethersett Athletic Ladies side have been included in the 16 player Norfolk squad for next Tuesday’s (11th December) match against Cambridgeshire at Clipbush Park, Fakenham (kick off 7.45 p.m). 

Nicola Bray, Emily Coates, Sophie Fuller, Logan Shepherd, Jemma Smythe, Nicola Stolworthy and Jodie Allard have been regulars in the county squad this season and all seven featured in the recent 3-0 win over Hertfordshire with Bray scoring a hat-trick and being named player-of-the match. 

Hethersett Athletic are one of only four clubs represented in the latest squad with the others being Norwich City Ladies, Swanton United Ladies and Sarah Quantrill of Arsenal Ladies. 

Hethersett’s proposed away fixture at Cambridge United on Sunday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The team will be hoping for better luck this Sunday when they visit Dagenham and Redbridge.  

Hethersett Athletic Under-15s put up a spirited performance in their League Cup match against Wymondham United before going down 4-0. Hethersett are second from bottom of the B League, whilst their illustrious opponents are second from top of the A League. 

Hethersett Athletic Under-10B team reached their League Cup semi-final after an exciting 6-3 quarter-final victory over Dereham Town in a match that went to extra-time. Hethersett goals came from Pegg 2, Jessop 2, Julian and Joe Barratt. The Under-10A side drew 2-2 with Lakeford in the league and then beat Hillside 5-2. Scorers against Lakeford were Doggett and Peres and against Hillside, Denny 2, Baxter, Peres and an own goal. The club’s Under-13s suffered a 15-2 defeat against Dereham in the League Cup. Their goals came from Wilcox and Cooper. 

This week the Under-16s visit Thorpe, the Under-15s are home to St Andrew’s (Memorial Field 2 p.m), the Under-14s visit St Andrew’s, the Under-12s visit Watton, the Under-11s are home to St Andrew’s (Old Hall School 2 p.m), the Under-10A side visit Norwich United, the Under-10B side visit Thetford and the Under-9s play Jex and Wymondham at Jex.

Hethersett Athletic Girls Under-12s continued their winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Blofield United with both their goals coming from Sophie Rock to take her total for the season to 13 and 10 from the last four games. The side have won their last four matches and will be looking to make it five on Saturday when they take on Dereham at Easton College (10 a.m). 

Hethersett Athletic Girls Under-15s were without a game at the weekend. This Saturday they take on Norwich City Canary Yellows at Easton College (10 a.m).
