A National FA Community Charter Club

Minutes of Development Committee Meeting held at Hethersett Social Club 27th March, 2003

Apologies

Mel Perkins

Minutes

Minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.

Matters Arising

None

Committee and Club Set-Up

With only three members present, the future of the development committee was discussed. It was felt that a considerable amount of important development business was covered by the committee. It was thought, however, that a few more members were needed to join the committee. Mark felt the development committee was the correct area to discuss next year's management of the men's senior teams.

Memorial Playing Field Development Update

Ray gave an update on the proposed development following a meeting with the architect. The latest suggestion is a slightly scaled down building with three meeting rooms rather than five. The proposed height of the roof had also been lowered. It is anticipated that the matter would be discussed by the South Norfolk planning authority on Monday 31st March.

Grants Wish List

Item to stay on the agenda for future discussion

Availability of Land

Ray reported a conversation with Estate Agents Frances Horner and said there is now a possibility of land in the village being available for purchase. Areas such as behind the village hall and at the corner of New Road would make ideal sites for the club. It was agreed that the matter should be looked into further with a view to ascertaining how much can be raised through grants.

Presentation Evening

Nothing new to report

Internet Site

Peter reported that the site was developing well and he would be using the close season to further design and develop it.

Schools Liaison

This is progressing well and Mark had delivered footballs from the community charter award to both the middle and high schools.

Library Display

Peter reported that Hethersett Library would be happy to host a club display featuring history, information and club trophies. It was felt that club members should take it in turns to sit with the display to 1/ deter anyone from taking trophies and 2/ talk to the public about the club. It was suggested that September would be a good time to mount a display to co-incide with the start of the new season. If the new pavilion on the playing field goes ahead, this could provide a permanent home for club trophies.

Corporate Membership of Hethersett Social Club.

There was no update on this.

Honorary Life Membership

It was decided that presentations should be made to the two honorary life members at the presentation evening in May. A glass/crystal memento would be presented along with a framed certificate.

Marketing/Promotions

This side of the club's activities is now going well. Press coverage had been plentiful and good and the possibility of car stickers was again brought up with Peter looking into this.

Sponsorship Manager Update

Ray gave a presentation on his application to become the club's Sponsorship Manager - a position which would be paid. He will follow this with a presentation to the full committee at its next meeting. Ray felt that if appointed to the position he would resign as development officer for the club. Peter said it might be possible to amalgamate the marketing and development roles and he would be prepared to undertake these until a suitable person could be found to take over.

There being no other business the meeting closed.
