Hethersett Athletic 0, Fenman Freehouse 5

The final article appeared in the Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury on April 22nd.

One of those days!

Athletic battle but lose final

HETHERSETT lost to a very strong Fenman Freehouse in the final of the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup held at Carrow Road.

Despite the scoreline, Hethersett competed well against a team that have won the trophy four times in the last five years.

Hethersett had a penalty saved and missed numerous chances and were made to pay the penalty by solid and skilful opponents from King's Lynn.

It was a sporting and skilful match, but Hethersett left themselves too much to do after being two down after eight minutes.

"It was one of those days when we just weren't going to score, whilst everything the opposition did seemed to turn to gold," said Hethersett chairman Peter Steward.

A special man of the match trophy, donated to the club by local businessman Les King was awarded to Matt Barrett for a display of tireless running.
