Hethersett Athletic 0, Fenman Freehouse 5

The following letter was sent by club chairman Peter Steward to the Pink-Un sports paper in response to comments made by Alan Williams of the Norwich Sunday League.

May I on behalf of Hethersett Athletic thank Norwich Sunday League official Alan Williams for his kind remarks following our defeat in the final of the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup.

Alan was quite right in stating that the 5-0 scoreline did not reflect what was anything but a one-sided final.

The average age of our team starting that match was 20 and it was Fenman's experience that saw them through.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learnt many lessons from it and are very keen to return to Carrow Road next season.

I was proud of the way our players conducted themselves on the day and would also like to thank the hundreds of fans who turned out to support us.

Despite losing, the players were determined to celebrate, after all winning a league title and getting to a major cup final isn't a bad season.

We hope that we represented the Norwich Sunday League well and our message is a simple one. "We will be back."
