A National FA Community Charter Club

Founded - 1991

IAN HARRISON

Ian's bubbly and infectious personality was at the forefront of establishing the men's first team as a major force in local Sunday football.

Well known in soccer circles both in Hethersett and further afield in Norfolk, Ian's enthusiasm for the game and his ability as a coach has rubbed off on many of the players who came under his wing over many years.

Ian began coaching in the village well over a decade ago at Cubs level and was then responsible for starting a Hethersett youth team that met with considerable success in local leagues and which concentrated almost exclusively on Hethersett players.

Ian subsequently joined Hethersett Athletic as both a committee member and a coach of the newly formed adult side  which entered Division Four of the Norwich and District Sunday League. He led that side to three consecutive divisional championships - many of which were achieved by massive margins.

Ian subsequently retired from coaching teams but left the first team in good shape to eventually progress even further.

Indeed today the team is in the top division of the Norwich and District Sunday League.

Ian's contribution to the club has been marked on two emotionally charged evenings. In 2000 he won the prestigious Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy for his outstanding contribution to the club and in 2003 he was made one of the club's first two honorary life members for his outstanding contribution to both the club and also football in the village.
