A National FA Community Charter Club Minutes
of Meeting of Hethersett Athletic Football Club at Hethersett Village
Hall, Thursday April 18th, 2002. Apologies Apologies
were received from Mel Bradfield, Kim Arnall and Peter Watts. Mel
Perkins read out a letter of resignation from Ian Harrison. The chairman
had already responded to this and thanked Ian for his efforts on behalf
of the club and for football in general. It was agreed that Ian should
be invited to the club's annual presentation evening in May. Minutes Minutes
of the last meeting were agreed with a slight amendment to the Under-10s
report which should have read four draws and not two. Matters
Arising There
were no matters arising. Secretary's
Report Our
web site address has been supplied to the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium
Library for their database. Mel
has received a questionnaire from the county FA who are preparing a
database for managers and coaches. Details
of a county FA first aid course have been supplied. Mel
also spoke about a women's junior team managers' course which will be
held at the sports park on May 11th and 12th. Mel
reported that only a handful of fixtures were outstanding with most
teams finished. The Senior A side have two games to play, the women's
three more matches. Sue Milne requested a morning kick off for the
women's game on April 28th in case Norwich City reach the play-offs. The
posts are down on the main pitch on the Memorial Playing Field and the
far pitch posts will be taken down as soon as fixtures are complete.
Pitches will be marked out until the end of April. Plans are in hand to
re-seed goalmouths. The set of new goalposts have arrived and are being
stored by Mel Bradfield. They will be used on the far pitch, although
new holes will be needed to accommodate the new square posts. Treasurer's
Report Mel
presented the latest accounts and stated that the grant money would have
to be spent by August or the club would lose it. The overall profit for
the season stands at £1,612 although this has been rather distorted
because many items had this season been paid for out of the grant. Appreciation
was expressed for the support given to the club by Frank Coleby Sports.
It was pointed out again that the men's first and reserves had failed to
meet their financial quota for the season. Teams were again reminded
that they could buy £25 worth of trophies from club funds. Development
Officer's Report Ray
reported that the plans for the new pavilion have changed again. The
Football Foundation had made specifications for the changing rooms. The
building will be larger than envisaged. It will be managed by the
Memorial Playing Field Committee and a manager will be appointed. Mark
Kerr suggested that the club should make either a donation or finance
some equipment for the new building. Ray
also reported that the stones on the new car park were being dealt with
and that a brick wall with flowers will be built at the front. The
application for Club Charter Development is in and it is likely to be
about three months before we hear whether we have been successful. Ray
thanked the chair and secretary for their work on this matter and Ray
was in turn thanked for his hard work in putting the application
together. Team
Reports Under-9s:
The league season is finished and the team is taking part in some mini
soccer tournaments. There is a distinct possibility that boys from the
Wymondham team will be joining us for next season. Two new coaches -
Neil Carr and Simon Crowe - will be invited to attend the club's next
committee meeting. Under-10s:
The side went out of the cup with a 3-0 defeat. They played a team from
Kent in three 20 minute games and won one and lost two. The team will be
taking part in some five-a-side games. Mike Malloy will be joining the
coaching staff and the team are ready to step up to Under-11s. Under-11s:
The Under-11s drew their final match and have had a good season with
excellent parental support. They have already held their own
presentation evening. They will be moving up to Under-12s next season. Under-13s:
The side won their final game of the season 6-0 against Salhouse. Scott
Allen has comfortably beaten the club scoring record with a massive 60
goals. The side are likely to finish third in the league and will be
looking to strengthen their squad for next season. Under-14s:
Mark Kerr reported on an "if only" season which saw them lose
their cup semi-final to Sprowston thanks to a killer goal in injury
time. The league had been dominated by Lakeford. The team are already
building for next season. Lewis Allen has completed 100 goals for the
club and the team have played some excellent football. Under-16s:
The team have finished mid-table. They finished off by losing 2-0 to
Coltishall and 3-0 to East Harling and beating Taverham 2-1. They also
enjoyed a 3-3 draw in a fun friendly against the men's A team. Some of
the players will be entering adult football next season. Girls
Under-14s:
The team will finish fourth in their league and are already planning for
next season at Under-15 level. They will continue training throughout
the summer. Women's:
The women's team were beaten in both their cup semi-finals - both by the
odd goal. They lost just five of their 25 league games and will finish
runners-up in the 11-a-side league. They are currently top of the
seven-a-side league but teams below them have games in hand. At the end
of March, Sue Milne managed the Norfolk Under-16s team which beat
Cambridgeshire 3-1 with all the Norfolk goals coming from Hethersett
players (Lucy Mitchell, Sarah Milne and Kelly McEwen). Taster sessions
for a girls under-12s side are starting and Anna and Louisa were
welcomed as managers of that side. Senior
A:
The team have gained promotion to Division Two of the South Norfolk
Sunday League. It looks unlikely that they will progress in the
Invitation Cup following two wins and two defeats in their four games.
They have two matches to go. Senior
Res:
Aide Moore reported that since the last meeting the side had won one and
lost two but avoided having to apply for re-election by pipping Eclipse
on goal difference. Senior
Firsts:
The Senior Firsts have won their division for the third year in
succession thanks to a 6-2 win in their final match of the season. Pitches/Fixtures/Kit The
secretary asked for a kit audit to be undertaken in May. Mark queried
whether portable full size goals are allowed in the youth leagues. Next
season's Under-15s are likely to have to leave Old Hall School as they
have outgrown the pitch. New nets have been acquired and the pitch
situation will be looked at fully. Adult
Sides Next Season After
discussion it was agreed that the A team should become the reserves next
season with the reserves becoming the A side. There was a call for more
interplay between the three teams. A number of the Under-16s will be
stepping up to adult football and it looks likely that the club will
have enough players to run three adult men's teams again. It was agreed
that a meeting should be held on May 12th for players and management to
discuss next season. Presentation
Evening This
was confirmed for Norwich City on May 18th with each team paying £50
towards the bill. The disco is being sorted out and it is likely that
the trophies will be presented by Arsenal's Matthew Upson. The women's
trophies will be presented by a former England International Women's
player. Scott Allen will receive a special trophy for breaking the
club's individual scoring record. Ray Milne reported that FA
Certification will be given out on the night. The chair reported that he
has received four entries for the Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy. Web
Site The
licence for the web site has been renewed and full club records are now
online. The chairman said that he hoped to re-design the site over the
summer and asked for help in doing this. The
next committee meeting will be held on 13th June at 8 p.m and the annual
general meeting will take place on
