Committee Minutes

Minutes of Meeting of Hethersett Athletic Football Club at Park Farm Hotel on Monday 15th May, 2006

Apologies

Apologies were received from Nick Tarrant, Tom Rainsford, Bob Oliver, Mike Molloy, Ray Milne and Vickie Potter.

Joe Cooper was introduced as the manager of the new Under-11s girls' team.

Secretary's Report

Mel mentioned the new series of Level One coaching courses which included a ladies only course. He also mentioned the Football In the Community Summer Cup and Soccer on the Sands.

All league entries for next season have been completed. It is unlikely that we will be fielding an Under-8 side. Applications for affiliation and insurance have been sorted out.

It was agreed that the club will enter the Norfolk Sunday Cup at all three levels - Senior, Intermediate and Junior as well as the John Savage Cup at Under-16s and the Minor Cup at Under-14s. Consideration is also to be given for entering the Norfolk and Suffolk Women's Cup.

Richard Munro has enrolled on his level one coaching course which will help our charter renewal application.

At this point the men's teams made an impromptu presentation to the chairman and secretary to thank them for their hard work during the season.

Treasurer's Report

Accounts for the season close on 30th June. A number of bills are outstanding including the presentation evening at Park Farm. Club awards costs are to be split across all teams.

Considerable effort has been made by teams to wipe out existing debits and teams were urged to think about their financial structures for the coming season. The three men's teams stated that they would be working together to produce a financial structure for all three teams.

The financial position regarding the Under-14 girls is still causing concern and the chairman agreed to contact their coach to discuss the matter.

Easton College

The chair has spoken to the college principal and it is hoped to arrange a further partnership meeting during the summer.

Presentation Events

It was agreed that the youth presentation and funday at Hethersett Middle School had been a great success and thanks were expressed to all those who organised the event and helped on the day. Steve Raven stated the event had succeeded in all three aims - to provide a fun day, to raise the profile of the club and to raise funds. Letters of thanks will be prepared to various people and signed by the chairman.

The adults' presentation evening at Park Farm had also been a great success and it was generally agreed that the correct format for presentation events has been found. The Under-16s also had a successful event at East Harling.

Steve Lyall

Steve thanked the committee for making him and his Under-16s feel so welcome during the season. A few of his players will be staying with the club and playing at adult level next season. Steve has offered to help coach any of the youth sides and pass on his considerable experience and expertise.

Peter Wiltshire

The chairman congratulated Under-8 player Peter Wiltshire who is the first active player from the club to sign for Norwich City Academy.

Football Development Officer

Nick Tarrant has agreed to take on this role

Adult Men's Football

The managers/coaches of the three adult teams will be meeting over the summer to discuss arrangements for the new season. The reserves were congratulated on gaining promotion. The first team will be taking part in a pre season tournament in Manchester.

Concern was expressed at suggestions that a Hethersett Social Club team have plans to use the Memorial Playing Field next season. The secretary pointed out that we have exclusive rights to the pitches and he will take this matter up with the Playing Field Committee. There was also concern that the village bottle banks are to be re-located at the Memorial Field.

Any Other Business

The Under-9s will be using Little Melton School next year rather than Hethersett High School.

The web site is in the process of being updated and a new records section set-up.

The chairman is hoping to bring out a monthly newsletter in the new season to highlight all the good work being carried out by the club.

Date of Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next meeting should be held at Easton College to enable committee members to view the facilities. A provisional date of 10th July was set. The chair to contact the college to arrange.
