Easton
College Partnership General opinion was
strongly in favour of developing a partnership with Easton College as
outlined by Ray Milne and Mark Kerr following a meeting with the college
principal and Director of Sport. Chairman read out a
letter from Easton outlining proposals. Tom Gregory expressed the view
that Hethersett Athletic must not lose its identity or move its base
away from the village. It was agreed to
call an Extraordinary General Meeting to fully discuss the idea. Ray
proposed and Mark seconded that a recommendation should be put to this
meeting that we enter a partnership with Easton College and this was
unanimously approved. Chairman urged
managers and coaches to get as many people along to the meeting as
possible so that any decision could be representative of the club as a
whole and not just a handful of individuals. It was agreed that
if the EGM votes in favour of the idea, a working party would be set-up
consisting of club members and representatives from the college to
"thrash out" details of the partnership. These would then
return to the main committee for changing and ratification ahead of a
fully binding agreement being drawn up. This would necessitate changes
to the club's constitution and development plan. It was agreed that
following the EGM the Memorial Playing Field Committee should be kept
abreast of developments and be assured that the club is not planning to
totally move away from the village. Team Updates Managers/coaches
gave their team updates which included the following comments: Minis
doing well and beginning to win games; Under-11s have won their last
four games and are just one point behind the leaders; Under-12s are
struggling to win although the youngsters are giving 100%; Under-13s are
in the middle of a disruptive period with injuries, players leaving and
new players taking time to settle it; Under-14s continuing to play well
with a 6-3 win over Harling and a 3-3 draw against Wymondham followed by
a 4-0 defeat against a very strong Stalham side; Under-16s have lost two
and won one since last meeting with their latest result an 11-0 victory
over Mulbarton; Ladies won their first six matches but have lost their
last two, but are still second in the league; Men's A have been playing
well despite a few defeats but are still fourth in their league despite
having some new players; Men's Reserves beat the league leaders 7-2 but
then lost 4-0 against a side third from bottom and have a long injury
list; Men's Firsts were knocked out of the County Cup after having a
perfectly good equaliser disallowed against Bohemians, but are second in
the league and the manager confidently predicts they will finish in the
top three of the Premier Division. Sue Milne made a
plea on behalf of the Ladies team for help next season in running the
side. Development
Officer's Report Ray informed the
committee that his company Raysinfunds was undertaking work with Brown
and Co on a new stadium for Wroxham Football Club. This would in no way
impinge on or prejudice the work he is doing for Hethersett. Football
Development Officer's Report Mark reported on a
successful parents evening when 18 parents attended an interesting and
informative event. Parents had expressed an interest in more social
events, such as a Christmas party. Nobody had volunteered, however, to
organise such events. People had come forward to take Level One coaching
qualifications and there had been offers of secretarial support for
youth teams. Ray suggested the
club organise a casino evening. Mark mentioned the
Norfolk Football Coaches' coming dinner when the guest speaker would be
Neil Ruddock. At this point Tom
Gregory outlined his wish to start an Under-18s youth Saturday side next
season. Fixtures, Kit
