Committee Minutes

Minutes of Committee Meeting of Hethersett Athletic FC held at Park Farm Hotel on Monday 11th September 2006

Apologies were received from Ray Milne

Minutes

Minutes of the previous meeting were agreed as a correct record. It was agreed that approved minutes and agendas for coming meetings should in future be put on the club web site.

Secretary’s Report

Registrations were satisfactory. One of the options looked at in the youth leagues was to have Wednesday evening fixtures at the start of the season. This had caused problems, however, and the idea has been scrapped.

Mel reported on the recent vandalism of club goals on the Memorial Field. Simon Crowe had kindly welded the goals back, but we need to keep an eye on the situation.

Mark Kerr inquired about the situation if somebody was injured and Mel explained that both the Playing Field Committee and the club have public liability insurance.

Treasurer’s Report

Mel reported that the raffle at the adult teams’ presentation evening had raised £74 which would be split between the Men’s Reserves and A team to help cut their deficits.

A discussion took place about the impending employment of Kerry Butcher to look after aspects of the clubs finances. Individual teams will be paying in money to either the Alliance and Leicester Building Society or the Nat West bank. Kerry will be looking at the club’s status with a view to improving how we organise our finances.

It is anticipated that she will be employed for between three and four hours a week and will produce reports for committee meetings. It was agreed that Kerry should be invited to the next committee meeting to meet club officials, managers and coaches. One of the first jobs will be to set the budgets for the individual teams.

The meeting agreed to collate information on the cost of pitch hire.

Easton College Partnership

A further meeting with Easton will be held in due course. In the meantime the men’s and women’s teams will be playing there this season. The chairman will raise the question of providing a pitch for youth teams next season.

Football Development

Darren Lemmon from Norfolk FA has offered to run a coaching session for the club and this will be co-ordinated by Nick Tarrant.

Fixtures, Pitches Etc

Discussions were still going ahead about the possibility of a second pitch at Old Hall School which is at present being used for hockey.

Hethersett Wanderers are now playing at Little Melton.

The club had been unable to re-seed the goalmouths on the Memorial Field this year as the goalposts had not been taken down in time. It was suggested that the near pitch should be moved slightly at the end of this season.

There was a discussion over the use of the two pitches at the Memorial Field and youth team players sharing changing facilities with adults. Sue Milne agreed to check the position with regards to child protection with Norfolk FA. Mike Molloy offered the use of drapes to split the two dressing rooms into four.

It was agreed that priority for the larger main pitch should lay with the adult teams.

Web Site and Promotion of the Club

The chairman has been working to update the web site and introduce a number of new features including blogs. He appealed for information to help him with the promotion of the club. It was also felt that we should ensure that sponsors are featured on the web site and made to feel part of the club with a presentation of a certificate to mark their support.

Richard Bond to be asked if there is a possibility of having a cabinet to display club trophies in the Queen’s Head.

New Newsletter

The chair will put together a newsletter at the beginning of the month and this will be circulated by the secretary. Edition One has already been circulated. An appeal was made for stories and information.

Any Other Business

Richard Gamble suggested that any spare unwanted kits should be sent to Africa and this was agreed. Richard also offered to run a Christmas raffle for club funds.

The women’s team packed groceries at Sainsburys and raised £500. They had also enjoyed a paintballing day.

Dave Manington appealed for a linesman for the Men’s Reserves team and also promoted the coming quiz evening which will be held on 20th October at Hethersett Middle School.

Women’s players Nicola Stolworthy and Jodie Allard have been selected for Norfolk.

There has been interest shown for an Under-7s and Under-8s team, but somebody is needed to organise and run it if the team is to get off the ground.

Vicky Potter was congratulated on achieving her level 3 physiotherapist qualification.

Sue Milne reported that she has a good contact for first aid kits

Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held at Park Farm Hotel on October 16th when Darren Lemmon from Norfolk FA will be invited to give a presentation on Football Development.
