A National FA Community Charter Club

With Hethersett Athletic’s First team without a fixture at the weekend the spotlight fell on the other three adult teams and they came up with a hat-trick of victories.

The men’s reserves visited  Saxlingham Reserves and came away with all three points after a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Manington and Cameron.

The table-topping A side made rather hard going of beating bottom side Mundesley and missed numerous chances before recording a 4-2 victory. Paul Martin weighed in with two goals before having to go off injured. It took his tally for the season to nine. Other goals came from Andy Oliver and Danny Holman in his 301st appearance for the club.

The Ladies team travelled to Cornard in the Norfolk and Suffolk County Cup and achieved a resounding 14-0 victory. There were hat-tricks for Hazel Brewster, Hazel Shepherd and Amy Brooks, two for Emily Coates and one each for Hannah Dugdale, Nicola Stolworthy and Jodie Rettie.

The Girls Under-15s also hit double figures in beating Hempnall Hunnies 12-1 with hat-tricks for Camilla Munro and Kimberley Broom and two each for Elle Hyam, Charlotte Fisher and Philippa Simons.

The Under-14s progressed in their league cup after beating Poringland 3-2 (Chambers, Cooper, Blanchflower) and there was also a victory for the Under-9A team who beat Mulbarton 5-0 with Baxter hitting four.

The Under-16s lost 6-1 at Jex, the Under-15s lost 3-2 to Firside, the Under-13s went down 4-2 to Hellesdon, the Under-12s lost 5-1 to Costessey, the Under-11s drew 0-0 with Costessey and the Under-9B side lost 6-0 at Toftwood.

The Under-11 Girls team played their first ever match when they visited Dereham in a pre-league friendly and came away with a 2-0 win.

The men’s first team have been drawn against a Great Yarmouth team for the third consecutive match in the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup. Having beaten AFC Gorleston and Yarmouth Bohemians in earlier rounds, they will be at home to El Sol in the third round at Easton College on November 5th

Two club players reached individual milestones at the weekend. Paul Martin scored his 100th goal and James Rice made his 100th appearance. Rice has been selected for the Norfolk Under-18s squad to play Berkshire and Buckinghamshire at Wroxham on Saturday 21st October.

This Sunday the Men’s Firsts visit Delaneys, the Men’s Reserves are home to Ketts Tavern (Memorial Field 10.30) and the Men’s A visit Norfolk County Council. The Women visit Brentwood Town whilst the Under-15s are home to Heigham Park (Memorial Field 10.30), the Under-14s visit Scole, the Under-13s are home to Lakeford (old Hall School 10.30), the Under-12s visit Fakenham, the Under-11s are home to Taverham (Old Hall School 2 p.m) and the Under-10s play Silfield and Blofield at Silfield.
