A National FA Community Charter Club Founded
- 1991 Hethersett Athletic 0, Fenman Freehouse 5 The following report appeared in the Pink-Un Sports Paper of April 24th.
Legg up for the Fenmen By Chris Lakey KEVIN LEGGETT has played in more positions than your average yoga teacher this season, but wherever he is on the pitch goals are never far away.
For this final he was in defence - and supplied two goals as Fenman Freehouse, from King's Lynn, retained the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup with a convincing win over surprise finalists Hethersett Athletic at Carrow Road.
Fenman had the experience, with a team full of Ridgeons League players and, in Leggett, a man who has played up front, in defence and even in goal for Swaffham this season.
Jonathan Hawes set the ball rolling after four minutes, with Leggett making it two three minutes later, nodding home Gary Bush's corner.
Hethersett were in danger of being over-run and, when the impressive Ben Thompson saw his penalty saved by Danny Cook, having been fouled by Leggett, it didn't look good.
To their credit they re-grouped with Thompson inches wide after a brilliant 40 yard run.
But Fenman, who have now won the cup four times in five appearances, made it 3-0 on 36 minutes, Robbie Back smashing the ball home after the quick thinking Paul Hunt's sly free-kick.
It was all over on 53 minutes when Hethersett 'keeper Chris Bolderstone misjudged Lewis Hemeter's deep cross from the right and it was left to Leggett to round it off with another header from a Bush corner after 90 minutes.
"It was one of those days when we just weren't going to score, while everything the opposition did seemed to turn to gold," said Hethersett chairman Peter Steward.
The same report appeared in the Eastern Daily Press Newspaper under the heading:
