13 Hethersett breezed their way through to the second
round of the Norfolk Senior Sunday Cup with a 13-0 demolition of Norwich
Sunday League Division One side Freemasons Arms. There was a huge difference in quality between the
two sides despite the fact that they are only one league apart. The
visitors scored at will throughout the game against game opponents who
gave them too much room and too much respect. Hethersett were 5-0 up at half-time by which the
game had been long over as a contest. Lee Barrett hit a first half
hat-trick and there were also goals for Stuart Halton and John Curtis. Hethersett had the luxury of taking both Barrett
and Halton off at half-time. Their replacements – Mark Siddell and
Mark Appleton – carried on the good work, however, with Siddell
bagging his own hat-trick and Appleton hitting a brace. With skipper Chris Steele in imperious form,
Hethersett cut through the home defence at will and the scoring was
completed by goals from Matt Elwin, Steele and Sam Wenham. Freemasons
never gave up but Hethersett goalkeeper Chris Brownbridge was a virtual
spectator for most of the match. Hethersett will find the going much tougher this
Sunday when they take on league champions Marlborough in a re-arranged
fixture. Both teams are unbeaten in the league and currently lay in
first and second places (exactly the positions they finished in last
season). The match kicks off at Easton College at 10.30 a.m. Hethersett Reserves and A team both suffered County
Cup exits with the reserves going down 4-0 at home to Coltishall Colts
and the A team losing 2-0 to Dynamo Denmark. Hethersett Athletic Ladies 9 Royston Town Ladies 1 Hethersett Ladies kick started their East Anglian
Premier Division season with a resounding 9-1 win over Royston Ladies. After disappointing results against Haringey
Borough and Woodbridge Town, Hethersett were looking for their first win
of the season and they achieved it in some style against a side that
have already beaten Woodbridge this season. Hethersett were without unavailable top scorer
Nicola Bray, but played some delightful football in the first half to
storm into a 7-0 lead at the break thanks to two goals each from Emily
Coates, Nicola Stolworthy and
skipper Jemma Smythe and one from Nikki Wigg. In comparison top the first, the second half was
disappointing being a stop start affair due to a number of injuries on
the hard surface. Royston pulled a goal back before Coates completed
her hat-trick and Sophie Fuller made it nine with a late goal. The win takes Hethersett up to seventh place in the
league, just three points behind current leaders Norwich City Ladies.
This Sunday Hethersett Ladies are without a game. Add to hat-trick heroes section: Emily Coates (Hethersett Athletic Ladies) 3 Mark Siddell (Hethersett Athletic) 3 Lee Barrett (Hethersett Athletic) 3 Hethersett Athletic youth section got its season

from Wilcox, Bell and Field and the Under-11s got off to a fine start
with a 2-0 victory at St. Andrew’s with goals from Ellis and Walker. The Under-10 A team came back from losing 3-0 to
