Man in the Middle brings club financial support (with help from sidelines)

Hethersett Athletic is now a shining light in local football thanks to shirt sponsorship for the under 11 girls team from Crompton Lamps of Bradford.

Crompton are one of the oldest lamp manufacturers in the U.K. and have produced light bulbs since the 1920s. Their products can be found on the shelves of most good independent lighting/electrical/ hardware companies across the UK including Norwich Lighting Centre (Longwater Retail Park)  L.E. Electrical (Middleton’s Lane) & R. E. Thorns (Lobster Lane) in Norwich.

This sponsorship arrangement, which coincides with the launch of the Crompton Lamps new A rated energy saving lamps range, has been brought to the club by Tim Sadler a Norfolk F.A. level 8 referee at the age of 15.

Tim first came into contact with Sue Milne through various Norfolk FA arranged competitions at which he either officiated or was helping the Norfolk County F.A. Development Team.

During the course of one of these meetings Sue spoke to Tim in depth about his interest in football, refereeing and coaching and offered him the opportunity to gain experience by helping with coaching  the newly formed under 11 girls’ team. The offer was accepted and Tim has gone on to assist Joe Cooper, another fine up and coming young coach. Tim through involving his father’s business associations was able to bring the sponsorship arrangement to the club.

Tim’s efforts  reaped financial reward for the club and has furthered his coaching experience. He is a fine example for anyone involved in local sport and has helped to prove that, when a small group of people are all pulling in the same direction, quite exceptional things can be achieved.

Tim said: “It was good to get someone I know to help the team but none of this would have happened if I had not been helped by some really nice people.”

Tim gave special mention to Glen Sandell his refereeing mentor at Norwich Referees’ Association, and also Darren Moss, Jon Eaton and all at Norfolk County FA.

For their part the club wish to express its thanks and gratitude to Crompton Lamps for their support and are very pleased to have attracted support from such a high profile national company.

Tim Sadler is pictured above receiving the sponsorship cheque from Norfolk FA Chairman Stuart Dracup who is also a Hethersett vice-president. Also in the photo are members of the team and coach Joe Cooper.
