A National FA Community Charter Club The Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy for 2001 was won by Charlotte Boreham of the Women's team. Charlotte Wins Top AwardThe top award of the evening - the Lee Thompson Memorial Trophy - was won for the first time by a woman player. Charlotte Boreham was nominated by team manager Sue Milne for her versatility throughout the season. Charlotte had never before played in goal before the start of the season. A dedicated outfield player she had already been chosen to attend the Personal Development Course set up by Norwich City who had noticed her strength and fearless play. For the good of the team, however, Charlotte agreed to play in the new position and helped the side through a magnificent season which saw them finish runners-up in the league.
Charlotte had unselfishly helped what had previously been a youth team, grow into a genuine women's adult team. She could only sit and watch as the side went down 4-3 in the cup final to Aylsham. Throughout her injury Charlotte continued to smile. The above nomination was good enough to win Charlotte the trophy presented annually for outstanding achievement by a player from the club. The trophy was set-up by the club in memory of Lee Thompson who tragically died in a road accident. The presentation to Charlotte was made by Lee's mother and father Ray and Mary Thompson. Other nominations for the award were Craig Barker, Christian Lacey, Chris Thirtle and Danny Musson
